Letter to William Robson form Charles Forbes, 7th June 1896
37 Avenue de l'Alma, Paris
My dear Robson, I was delighted to find your postal here, when I arrived
from America, some days ago now. I have often thought of you and your
family, and wondered what you are about. I always thought you were at
Capri and was surprised to see you were in Scotland. I am sure it was
a wise move on account of your children, and you will have more chance
of doing something and getting on in Edinburgh, than if you had remained
in Italy.
I passed all last winter in New York, and return there again in July,
but expect to come out again next Spring as I always come to Paris for
a few months to see my sisters. I have not been to Italy for two years
now, or I should have come to Capri to see you and your family. How
are you all? How is Carmela? Say many nice things to her for me. And
Maud? Is she growing up pretty? How I should like to see you all. I
hope next Spring, if I am able, to come out here, via England, and I
will take a run up to Scotland to see you. In the mean time, do write
to me, and give me some permanent address that will always find you,
and believe me,
Ever your friend, Charles Forbes.
