To Robson from C C Coleman in Capri, February 15th 1897 My Dear Rob ~ When, oh, when! are you
coming back to the beautiful island which is never the same without
you? I hope you are making your fortune through the sale of your charming
work and that all is well with the family. I never cease to miss your
fun and long for your return. I am quite alone and now that the Andrews
have gone away and Luca too ( a clever American painter) I have no anoriety
and stick to the hour evenings. The days are passed in serious work in
the old studio. I am hoping to make Rome about the 1st of March, to
remain till May ~ What are you planning for this summer. I am hoping
to get off to America before the Autumn with a lot of work and trust,
once in my native land, through the sale of my paintings to replenish
my empty purse. Villa Mura is more beautiful than ever. I hope to be
settled in it next summer. Write to me when you have the inclination
and time. Love to the wife and little ones, and believe me, old boy,
ever the same, |
