Restoration Project ~ Habitat Enhancement | |||||||||||||||
Habitat Enhancement ~
The clearance of bankside vegetation and debris is much needed on many of the tributaries on the Dee, Ken and Deugh Rivers. By creating prime habitats for salmonids and the aquatic invertebrate life they feed on, we can maximise the productivity of the most suitable waters. This will ensure the greatest potential area for stock to regenerate the runs of salmon that a river system this size should host. |

This involves skilled chainsaw operators
and hard labour removing obstacles to migration and overgrowing vegetation
along the many miles of streams outlined in the Galloway Fisheries Trust
reports as requiring attention.
To start with funding in the region of £4,000 will make major inroads into the numereous vital feeder streams on the system. |
