The Dee River Habitat Restoration Project
~ a five year plan ~ has been initiated as the result of a study carried
out by the Galloway Fisheries Trust, a known reputable scientific body
and registered charitable trust. The survey detailed necessary field
work to improve fish runs, increase fish stocks and reverse the harmful
effects of acidifaction, exacerbated by intense afforestation.

The enhancement of both the stocks of salmon and the
habitats on which they rely is greatly needed on the river system. There
are many able and willing parties working towards this goal. The main
hindrance to these parties is funding towards the larger tasks. These
larger tasks interrelate to bring the greatest potential benefits to
the habitat and the fish stocks... The Project is divided into four
sections, and details with estimates of costs are on the following pages.
